THE FAMILY OF MAN
A foggy blend of aural vistas, earthy rhythms, and enchanting lullabies from the northern woods that lie near the cusp between land and sea over yonder.
A heady mix of folk, blues, and rock blended with a touch of everything in between, their music can be best described as whimsical, poignant, visceral, magical, somber, joyful, and downright real.

Nervegasm [SPECIALS] presents: Stereolab.DUOPHONIC
Stereolab is an alternative music band formed in 1990 in London, England. The band originally comprised songwriting team Tim Gane (guitar/keyboards) and Lætitia Sadier (vocals/keyboards/guitar), both of whom remained at the helm across many lineup changes. Other long-time members include Mary Hansen (backing vocals/keyboards/guitar), who played with the group from 1992 until her accidental death in 2002, and Andy Ramsay (drums), who joined in 1993, and who is still in the official line-up.
Called "one of the most fiercely independent and original groups of the Nineties",Stereolab was one of the first bands to be termed "post-rock". Their primary musical influence was 1970s krautrock, which they combined with lounge, 1960s pop, and experimental pop music. They were noted for their heavy use of vintage electronic keyboards, and their sound often overlays a repetitive "motorik" beat with female vocals sung in English or French. Stereolab often incorporates socio-political themes into their lyrics. Some critics say the group's lyrics carry a strong Marxist message, and both Gane and Sadier admit to being influenced by the Surrealist and Situationist cultural and political movements. Gane is skeptical of labels such as "Marxist pop", and defends the band against accusations of "sloganeering".
Although many of the band's albums have been underground hits, they never found larger commercial success. The band was released from their recording contract with Warner Bros. Records when Warner's imprint Elektra Records folded. The release was reportedly due to poor record sales, and since then Stereolab's self-owned label, Duophonic Records, has signed a distribution deal with Too Pure. Duophonic holds the copyrights to the band's recordings, and on this label the band has released many limited-edition records. In 2009, Stereolab announced via their website that they were going on indefinite hiatus.

nervegasm - [SPECIALS] UNDERWORLD
Bio
In these days of endless band reformations, avalanches of reissues and shamelessly repetitious 'creativity', too many artists are willing to sign away their soul for a little extra time on the career clock. Too many of them see artistic expression not as an end in itself, but as a shortcut to celebrity and are obsessed with their destination, rather than engaged by the journey. Too few of them, frankly, are like Underworld. An incredible 27 years after their birth in Romford, Essex as a trio and 15 years after they pressed up their debut single (500 copies of the Balearic twofer, 'Mother Earth'/'The Hump'), Rick Smith and Karl Hyde are still enjoying the ride, grinning like kids as new vistas unfold before them. It's been a long and exhilarating trip – and it's not over yet.

Biography
Backtrackin'...... Foodshelter&clothing started out as a side project of Bong and James, founding members of "the bottles" (1988-1993), an avant-pop outfit (they started out as a project of sorts, writing stuff in the vein of seminal artists like Can, Neu, the Doors, the Velvets, Roxy Music, David Bowie, the Who et.al.), then mutated into a power-pop 7 man army specializing in genre-bending opuses, not unlike what they still do in the present Inspired by disparate musical genres, only showcased their eclectic influences. From early 80s synthpop (e.g. Heaven 17, Human League, blancmange, Yazoo) to late 80s Manc-Rock (e.g. Happy Mondays, Stone Roses, Inspiral Carpets) to 90s dance music (and all its ever-increasing sub-genres), not to mention their love of heavy metal (they recently did a live tribute to Napalm Death!) and old skool punk and hardcore, as well as traditional jazz and r & b, hip-hop, and even film scores. And no, they cant be tagged as music elitists, coz these blokes also clink their glasses to Kylie Minogue and watch all the pop videos they can handle on TV. After all they were once chosen as one of the bands handpicked on MTV Asias "OUT-OF-THE-BOX"segment(1997). They also had their share of the media with tracks played over NU107, plus countless of fanzine articles, as well as the occasional write up on the national dailies. And oh yeh, you might be wondering how they got their name, well it was inspired by the Alison Anders movie, "gas, food, and lodging". They set up their own label, DIY TAPES LTD. in 1993 (which they now renamed to Hogtied Records then eventually became StickySweetSounds). And to date they have released 8 albums (some of 'em can still be bought via mail order), including the soundtrack of the Alamat comicbook "Baylans" (2000) which was commissioned by its author (jason banico). Not counting their various compilations, notably "multiplestabwounds" which featured a revamped hip-hop(!?) version of The Storm (orig.from their album Cut n Paste). In 2004, they released their first e.p. "Cracked" (Triad Records). Also on the menu, were albums from their various side projects (e.g. fulltimebigot, Hidden Agenda RP, Half & Half, Trotsky & the Nosebleeds, Buddha Christ). Recently, they strutted their production skills, doing a remix project with Manila-based metal band Religious Nightmare. FYI, they are big fans of such studio icons like Brian Eno, Flood, and more notably Dan "the Automator" Nakamura, whom they consider as a kindred spirit in his use of lo-fi soundscapes (hey, these guys still use their trusty Tascam 4 track cassette studio!).And in their current incarnation as a duo (isnt it refreshing to see a non-guitar slinging band in Pinoy Rock?), they're open to do full-length gigs (any takers out there?), and perhaps songwriting duties for interested artists (c'mon Im sure some of 'em could use a little indie cred). To paraphrase what rapper Ice T said: "I told 'ya, you should've killed ('em )last year...
